Option 1: Released Rate Liability – Basic Coverage
With this type of valuation, the maximum liability for loss or damage to any article in the shipment is 60 cents per pound up to $50.00 per article. This is the basic liability level and is provided at no charge.
Option 2: Full-Value Coverage by Global Moving Systems (for cross state moves only).
Under this protection plan, if any article is lost, destroyed or damaged while in transit, we will either 1) repair the article to the extent necessary to restore it to the same condition as when it was received by us, or pay you for the cost of such repairs; or 2) replace the article with an article of like kind and quality, or pay you for the cost of such a replacement. An additional charge applies for this option. Please contact your relocation consultant to discuss available Full-Value Coverage and deductible options.
The total liability for loss or damage will be the amount you declare as the value of your shipment. However, the minimum total declared value must be at least equal to the weight of your shipment multiplied by $6.00. You MUST insure your shipment to within 80% of the value of everything that is being covered. If you choose to insure only certain items as opposed to the whole shipment, then you must itemize these goods and state their values.
If Global undertakes the packing of your boxes, Global will assume liability for damage due to packing, if you choose to pack yourself, Global assumes no liability for faulty / inadequate packing.
Option 3: Full-Value Coverage through the third party Insurance Agency
We can recommend insurance companies that offer full coverage moving insurance directly to the shipper:
- MovingInsurance.com
- EMoveInsurance.com
- MoveInsure.com
- BakerIntl.com
This coverage option is a bit more involved, and needs to be obtained at least one week prior to the actual move day. Please contact insurance company directly to discuss your coverage needs and options.
Option 4: Home Owners or Renters Insurance
Your current home owners or renter's insurance agency may already provide coverage for your goods while in transit. Please check with your insurance agent to see if this coverage is provided to you. Be sure you have a written statement from your insurance company stating that your goods are covered while in transit.
